Thornton brings to Xynyx 13 years of software development expertise, with the last five dedicated to Java-related technologies. Thornton holds Sun Java 2 Programmer certification and, in addition, BrainBench certifications in other technical areas. He is responsible for overall architectural issues across software product lines and technology directions at Xynyx and forming a technology alliance with Sun Microsystems. David’s most recent project at Xynyx involved architecting and designing the J2EE layer on a large project at United Health Care. This project used the Internet browsers and rich clients to give health providers B2B and B2C interactions and acted as a front end to legacy systems. Prior to UHC, David oversaw architectural, design and development efforts for XDrive, an industry leader in online file access for ISPs and Telcos. The project involved converting the existing system from Perl to J2EE WebLogic. Prior to XDrive, Thornton was a Java application/web developer at NIKU (formally ABT - Applied Business Technologies). ABT produced project management software and Thornton was responsible for the estimating product called ABT Planner. Thornton earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Melbourne University, Melbourne, Australia. |
