Mr. Tawfik co-founded Iridium in 1996 where he has led in numerous investment banking transactions. Earlier, from 1992 to 1995, Mr. Tawfik was the President of a $1.2 billion diversified aerospace electronics group of Honeywell International. He led that diversified business to top industry performance, doubling operating margins by improving manufacturing and purchasing efficiencies, consolidating five smaller divisions, eliminating excess capacity and re-igniting growth. Under his leadership, numerous strategic acquisitions were identified, executed, and successfully integrated.
Earlier, Mr. Tawfik was President of Bendix Flight Systems, a $150 million aircraft avionics supplier where he achieved a major profitability turnaround that transformed the business from the worst performing unit of the company's aerospace business to a solid bottom line contributor. Prior to that, he was the Vice President of US Marketing and Strategic Planning at the $2.5 billion Bendix Aerospace sector of the Allied Corporation. Mr. Tawfik also held several general management, marketing and engineering senior leadership positions at various other technology companies.
Mr. Tawfik holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from New York University, and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. |
