David Sumi joined TeleCIS Wireless in September 2004 and brings with him a deep and experienced understanding of the Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) marketplace and technologies. In his current role as Secretary of the WiMAX Forum, he continues his involvement in all facets of the industry. Prior to joining TeleCIS Wireless, Mr. Sumi co-founded The Telnecity Group, a wireless strategic marketing and business development company, where he authored the definitive report on BWA products and technologies of its time, "BWA De-Mystified 2002." Working at several start ups in BWA, from Multipoint Networks to Wireless Inc. to Malibu Networks, Mr. Sumi was one of the early pioneers establishing fixed Broadband Wireless Access as a viable technology and market during its infancy stages.
Prior to working in BWA, Mr. Sumi came out of Nortel where his focus was CTI and Advanced Intelligent Network integration. Before Nortel, he spent time developing, deploying, and marketing the first system capable of placing voice over two way cable plants. This expertise coupled with his networking and local access market savvy give him a unique perspective on the convergence of the switched and packet based networks in the local loop. Mr. Sumi received his BS degree in Applied Physics from Georgia Institute of Technology. |
