David Stout took up the role of President, Pharmaceuticals Operations, GlaxoSmithKline in January 2003. He is a member of the Corporate Executive Team. Previously he served as President, US Pharmaceuticals.
David joined SmithKline Beecham in October 1996 as Senior Vice President and Director, Sales and Marketing-US, Pharmaceuticals. In 1998, he assumed the position of President, Pharmaceuticals-North America.
Before joining the company, David was President of Schering Laboratories with responsibility for the US pharmaceutical operations, worldwide manufacturing, planning and financial services.
After joining Schering in 1979, David held a series of increasingly senior positions including Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Key Pharmaceuticals, and Vice President and General Manager, Schering Canada. He was named President of Schering Laboratories in 1994. He also held a series of sales positions with Warner-Lambert's pharmaceutical division from 1976 to 1979.
He serves on the board of directors of Airgas, Inc, and The Pharmaceutical Marketing Professional Advisory Board of Saint Joseph's University.
David has a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from McDaniel College.
