David Smith joined EMS Technologies’ Defense and Space Systems Division in April 2007 as Vice President and General Manager, reporting to EMS’s President and CEO. His responsibilities include providing direction and operational management for D&SS operations in Atlanta, which has more than 250 employees and annual revenues exceeding $50 million.
Smith joins EMS after serving as CEO and managing director of Metal Storm Inc., an Australian public company specializing in the design, development and integration of Projectile Launching systems for use in the defense, homeland security and law enforcement markets.
Prior to Metal Storm, Smith served as president and COO of Sensytech Inc., based in Newington, Va., a technology company that manufactures and supports a range of undersea and electronic countermeasure systems, geospatial/geothermal imaging, and highly classified intercept and intelligence support.
Smith also served as senior vice president and general manager for traffic control management system provider Quixote Corp., where he oversaw a $48 million Technology division, and as vice president of electronic connector manufacturer Amphenol Corp., where he served as vice president, Operations.
Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MBA from Syracuse University. |
