Darst is a co-founder of Potentia Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company developing novel therapeutics for macular degeneration. Darst formed the initial Potentia team and led the start–up company's early fundraising efforts. Currently, as Executive Vice President at Potentia, Darst has key ongoing responsibilities for financing, business development and strategic efforts. Darst has also worked in the pharmaceutical industry and in management consulting.
Darst's work in the healthcare field also includes strategic planning at New York City–based Pfizer and strategy leadership at Cambridge, MA–based Millennium Pharmaceuticals. In addition, Darst gained experience in healthcare consulting through summer employment at the Palo Alto office of McKinsey & Company.
David, a resident of Boston, Massachusetts, was also a co–founder of a nonprofit healthcare venture, Medicine in Need (MEND), focused on utilizing a large porous particle aerosol delivery approach to simplify tuberculosis treatment. MEND was recently awarded a multi–million–dollar National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) grant. David graduated from Harvard College with honors. |
