David Cole is currently on leave from Microsoft.
During his more than 20 years at Microsoft, David Cole most recently led the Online Business Group, which includes MSN.com, MSN-TV and MSNIA programming, advertising sales, business development and marketing for Live Platforms, MSN and Windows Live.
Previously, Cole was senior vice president of the Services Platform Division where he was responsible for building and operating a common services backend for the company's various Internet service efforts. Before that, Cole was Senior Vice President for the Consumer Services Division. In that capacity, he was responsible for developing a rich client experience for consumers, world-class communication and collaboration services, and high-quality Internet access that consumers need to access the Everyday Web any time, any place and on any device, as well as for managing the overall service operations of MSN.
Prior to that role, Cole was vice president of the Consumer Windows Division, responsible for reinventing a consumer version of the Microsoft Windows operating system that is so simple and reliable that anyone in the family can -- and will want to -- use it in the home. Cole championed the effort to deliver on a fun and entertaining consumer version of Windows that will also offer the kind of Internet power people want for completing transactions, communicating, finding information and playing on the Web.
Before that, Cole was vice president of the Web Client and Consumer Experience Division. He was responsible for developing Web client technology in Windows (and Web client software for other platforms), with the ultimate goal of enriching the consumer experience.
Before his work in the Web Client and Consumer Experience Division, Cole was a vice president in the Internet Client and Collaboration Division, responsible for Internet client development. Since joining Microsoft in 1986, he has held positions in product support and product development, with key responsibilities related to Windows 3.1 and managing development of Windows 95 from the start.
Cole holds a masters degree in mathematics from Western Washington University. |
