David Carey was named executive vice president for strategy and corporate development in November 2003. In this role Mr. Carey is responsible for setting the development course for Global Crossing. He leads a team that monitors industry and technology trends assesses Global Crossing's position within the industry develops corporate strategy to grow the business and drives corporate development.
Previously Mr. Carey served as executive vice president of enterprise sales in which capacity he oversaw all sales and marketing activities relating to Global Crossing's enterprise customers.
Mr. Carey has also served as senior vice president global network development in which he led the development of a fundamental network planning process for Global Crossing's worldwide multi-layer protocol network. Previous to this position he was senior vice president network and business development focused on the deployment of fiber-based local networks throughout North America.
Before joining Global Crossing Mr. Carey served as senior vice president marketing and chief marketing officer for Frontier Corporation's business lines. Prior to that Mr. Carey spent seven years in the energy industry serving as president and CEO of LG&E Natural Inc. a subsidiary of LG&E Energy Corp. based in Louisville Kentucky. He also served in several other executive positions.
Mr. Carey began his career with AT&T. During his 15 years there he held a wide range of executive positions in marketing sales operations and personnel.
Mr. Carey holds an M.S. in management science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he was also appointed to a Sloan Fellowship. He also holds a B.S. in industrial distribution from Clarkson University. |
