David Bartels is an accomplished business leader with over 30 years of experience in providing leadership in operations, financial management, staff supervision, systems implementation and project management.
David has extensive experience serving in senior-level positions in the glass industry, with particular expertise in molded glass and tubular glass operations. In a prior position, he served as the Director of Planning, Scheduling and Logistics for the molded glass operations of a world leader in specialty packaging. In this capacity, David was responsible for overseeing five manufacturing facilities that produced glass containers for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and specialty sales markets. During his tenure, he led a logistics team review which resulted in $1MM in annual freight savings.
In another previous role for this specialty packager, David served as the Director of Operations for its Glass Tubing Americas division, where he supervised all aspects and led the revitalization effort of a six plant, multi-state vial converting operation for the pharmaceutical industry. David was instrumental in improving operations through building teams to meet increasing customer quality requirements, implementing automation and quality system upgrades and vision inspection systems, creating annual capital plans and leading Continuous Improvement Lean Six Sigma projects. As a result of his efforts, quality was significantly improved, costs decreased and the accident rate and lost time rate was dramatically reduced at each facility.
David was also the General Manager for a division of a long-standing, leading manufacturer of glassware and ceramics products, where he directed the machine build program for its injection blow molding machines that, in record time, replaced destroyed machinery as a result of a fire, preventing customer losses. In addition to this, David also consolidated manufacturing locations from six to three plants, significantly increasing productivity, implemented Total Quality Management, improved inventory cycle counts, increased inventory turns from 1.2 to 8 and improved the division's physical inventory process, resulting in a deviation of less than 1%.
David is certified as a Six Sigma Green Belt. He received his MBA from Widener University and his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Missouri.
