Dr. Boykin received his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA. He served as Professor, and then Chairman for the Department of Chemistry at Georgia State University, and as Co-Director of the Laboratory for Microbial and Biochemical Sciences. In 1993, Dr. Boykin was made Associate Dean for Natural Sciences at Georgia State University and was established as a Regents' Professor. He has served as Editor for North America for Heterocyclic Communications. Dr. Boykin's research focuses on two areas: drug design and synthesis, and applications of 170 NMR spectroscopy to organic chemistry. His drug design and synthesis work centers on development of molecules, primarily heterocyclics, which selectively interact with nucleic acids. |
