David S. Rosenbloom is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's Chicago office. Dave is the chairman of the White-Collar Criminal Defense Practice Group and is a member of the Firm's Trial Department where he practices in the areas of qui tam litigation, healthcare fraud and abuse compliance, internal investigations and complex commercial litigation.
David has represented numerous corporations and individuals in connection with civil and criminal allegations of fraud or wrongdoing. David's major areas of practice include defense of healthcare providers and manufacturers. David also has represented clients in a wide variety of other industries, including securities, insurance, manufacturing and energy, both in response to specific allegations of misconduct and as part of preventive compliance programs. As part of his practice, he has represented clients with respect to both the foreign and U.S. aspects of criminal investigations.
Prior to joining McDermott, David served in the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois for eight years, at the conclusion of which he held the position of Deputy Chief of the General Crimes Division. As an assistant U.S. attorney, David conducted and supervised numerous investigations concerning allegations of financial misconduct and fraud, including government program and insurance fraud. David also successfully tried numerous federal jury trials involving a wide variety of matters, including financial crimes, securities fraud, public corruption and racketeering. He also prepared and argued numerous cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. David also served as the ethics advisor and the professional responsibility officer for the U.S. Attorney's Office.
During 1985 and 1986, he served as a law clerk to Judge William G. Young of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
David is a member of the state bars of Illinois, California and Colorado, as well as various United States District Courts and United States Courts of Appeals. David serves on the adjunct faculty at Northwestern University School of Law, where he teaches Trial Advocacy. David is ranked as a leading general commercial litigation lawyer in the 2005 and 2006 editions of Chambers USA, as well as a leading white-collar crime & government lawyer in the 2006 edition.
