BACKGROUND: David was born in Ocala, Florida on October 16, 1970. He received his undergraduate degree in political science in 1992 and his law degree, with honors, in 1996 from Florida State University. David concentrates his practice on the representation of health care providers in medical liability matters. In 2004, David joined GrayRobinson as head of the Firm's medical malpractice department. David and his wife, Kristin, have three children. David is a civil trial lawyer, concentrating his practice in medical malpractice defense litigation, insurance defense litigation and health care law. He has represented hospitals, long-term care facilities, physicians, midwives, nurses and emergency medical technicians all over the State of Florida in medical malpractice cases. He has defended and been trial counsel in cases involving patients seeking multimillion dollar recoveries. In addition, he has represented hospitals in general liability matters, as well as provided counsel on medical staff issues such as clinical staff privileges, peer review and physician credentialing. David also handles a significant amount of first party and third party claims on behalf of insurance company clients throughout the State of Florida. He has defended claims involving coverage disputes, breach of contract, bad faith and premises liability. David is a member of the Florida Bar's Health Law Section, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute. He has served as a lecturer to physician groups, nursing staffs and hospital personnel on issues such as prevention of medical malpractice claims, medical record documentation, informed consent, HIPAA, Good Samaritan Immunity and EMTALA.
