David Wing is United's vice president and controller. He is based at the company's operations center in suburban Chicago.
Named to the position in January 2005, Wing is responsible for the processing and reporting of all financial accounting transactions at United, including preparation of periodic financial statements and statutory financial reporting. He is also responsible for maintaining effective internal controls over financial reporting under Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, and for the efficient operation of the company's accounts payable, payroll, passenger and cargo revenue accounting, and international accounting worldwide. Wing is also responsible for the maintenance of all the company’s financial accounting and processing information systems.
Prior to joining United, Wing was the executive vice president and chief financial officer of ATA Airlines, where he was responsible for long-term strategic planning, banking and cash management and all aspects of accounting and financial reporting including SEC compliance, tax planning and compliance, and Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404. Before his appointment as CFO in early 2003, Wing served as ATA's vice president and controller.
From 1983 to 1994, Wing held several accounting and financial positions at American Airlines including managing financial accounting aspects of the airline's international expansion and also managing operational aspects of American's service expansion into Europe and Latin America.
Wing began his career as an auditor, is a certified public accountant and holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Tulsa. |
