David Rein joined Sullivan & Cromwell in 1999 and became a partner in 2006. His practice focuses on complex litigation and regulatory investigations in securities, antitrust, accounting and other commercial matters. Mr. Rein has represented financial institutions, corporations and other clients in federal and state courts, both at trial and on appeal, in securities and antitrust class actions, shareholder derivative actions, and litigation challenging proposed mergers. He has frequently represented clients in regulatory enforcement or other proceedings before the Department of Justice, the SEC, FINRA, the NYSE and state regulators. Mr. Rein has also advised corporate directors in conducting special litigation committee investigations. Since 2001, together with a number of other lawyers in the Litigation Group, Mr. Rein has served as a liaison counsel to the dozens of financial institutions named as defendants in hundreds of cases alleging securities fraud in connection with many of the IPOs issued during the "dot com" bubble.
