David L. Hanselman, Jr. is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s Chicago office. He is a member of the Trial Department.
David has had a broad range of experience litigating complex commercial disputes and mass tort, products liability, and consumer fraud/RICO actions. He also has defended clients in a number of class actions and multidistrict proceedings involving a variety of industries, including health care, pharmaceutical, insurance, and telecommunications.
David has extensive appellate litigation experience, having drafted briefs in successful appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the Indiana Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Indiana, and the Supreme Court of South Carolina, the latter of which resulted in the outright dismissal of two automobile insurance class action lawsuits. David also has experience in alternative dispute resolution, having arbitrated a commercial dispute before the Complex Litigation Panel of the American Arbitration Association (AAA).
While at Harvard College, David was elected student government president.
David is admitted to practice in Illinois, Indiana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois, Northern District of Indiana, and Southern District of Indiana.
