David J. Mendelson, MD, MS, FACEP Vice President, Medical AffairsDr. Mendelson’s contributions to the medical community go well beyond that of a normal physician. Upon obtaining a Master of Science and Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Mendelson has since pursued a fellowship in administration. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine by ABEM. Currently he is the interim medical director at Dallas Children’s Medical Center (First Care and Referral Care) as well as the medical director of several small urgent care and emergency departments. He serves on the Board of Directors for TCEP and currently holds the office of Secretary. Dr. Mendelson also is a member of the national ACEP Steering committee and the Emergency Medicine Practice Committee where he co-chairs the committee on psychiatric and substance abuse patients. Dr. Mendelson, in addition to his medical practice is responsible for provider education at EmCare for over 5000 physicians and mid-levels. He is also a member of EmCare’s Risk Management team and has developed the concept of Fail-Safes, which are being used in many of EmCare’s client hospitals. Combined with a long list of publications, David’s efforts have turned to EmCare and the Medical Practice Division and Medical Affairs. His responsibilities with these divisions include oversight of medical education, content development, and delivery of medical education via several platforms emergency physicians nationwide. David’s tool for bringing medical malpractice education to EmCare is by way of Emergency Medicine Education Systems, Inc., a company he co-founded in 1997. EMEDS, now EmCare owned, has provided hundreds of thousands of hours of Category I CME and is recognized and respected across the country as a premier tool of education. EMEDS, Inc provides live conferences, as well as, on-line education for physicians, mid-level providers, nurse practitioners and nurses. With EmCare now for twelve years, David’s risk management, education and work in operations has developed into a true EmCare success. |
