Dr. Shand was CEO of Alnis from 2001-2005. He has more than 30 years of relevant experience, including a decade in the pharmaceutical industry at American Home Products (now Wyeth) as SVP of Medical Affairs and at the Janssen Research Foundation (J&J) as EVP. His experience also includes a number of years as EVP at The Liposome Company (where he was also CSO) and at Carrington Labs. During his industrial career, Dr. Shand managed the development of some 25 products in several therapeutic areas, resulting in 15 New Drug Applications (NDAs), of which 10 have been approved. Prior to joining industry, Dr. Shand had a successful career as a Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at Vanderbilt and Duke. He has published over 200 papers and abstracts and has been a consultant to various companies. Dr. Shand received his Ph.D. in pharmacology and his medical degree from the University of London (UK). |
