Mr. Ritter, an associate of the Firm, practices in the Insolvency & Creditor Rights Section. He has substantial experience representing banks, businesses and individuals in all aspects of bankruptcy proceedings, including Chapter 11 plans, litigation and proceedings under Chapters 7 and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. He also has substantial experience in state and federal trial courts.
Scope of Practice:
National bankruptcy practice, bankruptcy litigation, pre-bankruptcy workouts, state law insolvency proceedings, out-of-court workouts and restructurings, security interest litigation, commercial litigation, banking and negotiable instrument litigation, collection and post-judgment execution proceedings, appeals, and extraordinary proceedings, including garnishment, sequestration and other injunctive relief.
Recent Representations:
Successfully obtained and caused to be upheld a defense verdict for a large convenience store chain in a breach of contract action through trial and two subsequent appeals.
Obtained fast and cost-effective relief for banks and other financial institutions seeking to repossess collateral from bankruptcy debtors.
Represented several companies throughout the United States in resolution of preference and fraudulent transfer litigation in amounts substantially less than the amounts claimed.
Represented committees, trustees and other bankruptcy representatives throughout the United States through all stages of Chapter 11 plans and proceedings, including in proceedings ancillary to international proceedings.
