David A. Schwarte is executive vice president and general counsel for Sabre Holdings. He leads the company’s legal department, which includes providing counsel to all Sabre Holdings divisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, and representing the company before federal and local courts and agencies. He has over thirty years experience in the travel and transportation industry.
Schwarte began his career as an attorney in the legal department of American Airlines, serving in positions of increasing responsibility, including managing director of international affairs and associate general counsel from 1979 to 1996.
Immediately prior to joining Sabre, Schwarte served as director of the Fort Worth-based Kelly, Hart & Hallman law firm, where he specialized in technology and aviation law and litigation.
He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association. He also is immediate past chairman of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Air and Space Law, the premier association of attorneys who work in the travel industry.
Schwarte is a frequent lecturer on transportation and technology matters. He has appeared, on many occasions over the last 25 years, before the competition and transportation authorities in the U.S., Europe, Canada and Latin America.
