Having majored in Marketing Communications at Leeds Metropolitan University in Leeds, UK, Dave moved into the semiconductor industry by way of accident rather than design. Trying to understand the dynamic between marketing and the role of sales in relation to it, his first job was working on a London-based publication known as Semiconductor Fabtech. From a starting role as a media sales executive he quickly moved up the ranks and became Publication Manager, where be began to learn and appreciate the industry to a greater degree. Having developed an understanding of the sales discipline his next endeavor was to close the loop on the communication triangle and develop an understanding of the role of public relations. His opportunity would come at Silicon Valley-based Positio Public Relations (formerly Mathews & Clark) where he progressed from an Account Manager to Vice President of Client Services over a three-year period. He left in September 2003 to pursue the co-founding of elev8 Public Relations, which merged with Impress Public Relations in 2006. During his 11 years in the semiconductor industry Dave has worked with many clients ranging from fledgling start-up companies through to multi-billion companies in both the equipment and manufacturing segments. |
