Darryl Edwards is president of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for Nortel. Edwards is also chairman of the board for Nortel Israel and chairman of the board of Nortel’s joint venture in Turkey, Nortel Netas.
Since joining Nortel in 1992, Edwards has held a number of senior positions. Most recently he was president, Nortel sales operations in the UK, Ireland, the Nordic region, Benelux and the Middle East.
Edwards previous roles included CEO of Nortel Germany, a joint venture with EADS which became fully owned by Nortel in 2003. As CEO, Edwards led Nortel Germany through a complete restructuring and re-alignment of its business. Edwards has extensive experience across the EMEA region including sales management in the Middle East, director of UK Alternate Operations and International Carriers and first CEO for Nortel Israel.
Prior to joining Nortel, Edwards spent 13 years at GEC and subsequently its joint venture with Siemens, GEC-Plessey Telecommunications (GPT), which was later to become Marconi. Edwards served his engineering apprenticeship at GPT and held a series of positions with the company in production, product development, software design and quality management leading to senior regional sales manager for Southern Europe.
Edwards lives near Leamington Spa in the UK with his wife and three children and is based in Nortel’s EMEA headquarters in Maidenhead, UK.
