Darrell W. Pierce practices in the areas of commercial finance and corporate law. With offices in Chicago and Ann Arbor, he has earned a national reputation for handling sophisticated debt finance transactions, including structured finance transactions, securitization of financial assets and other significant secured transactions under Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).
Mr. Pierce focuses on counseling underwriters and issuers of asset-backed securities, commercial paper and debt issued to institutional investors; advising commercial lenders and borrowers involved with asset-based lending and syndicated credits; and working with those involved on all sides of public finance transactions. He successfully develops effective business strategies for closely held and growing companies.
Clients like Credit Acceptance Corp., several large banks and the Illinois Finance Authority have trusted Mr. Pierce with some of their most difficult and unusual work. They rely not only on his experience in structuring transactions that add value, but on his ability to recognize and willingness to seek out innovative legal solutions that are not typical in the marketplace.
Mr. Pierce helped craft a unique solution for the Illinois Finance Authority that guided it on how to efficiently loan money to Illinois businesses at below-market rates. The program, which is designed to boost the local economy and expand the state's businesses, was successfully retooled with Mr. Pierce's identification of cost-cutting operational and administrative efficiencies. These included the implementation of a highly automated document production system and a program restructure that allows it to take advantage of partnership opportunities with other lenders. |
