Darcy G. Callas, Moline, Ill., is general counsel at Modern Woodmen of America. Callas began her employment with Modern Woodmen in 1983 as assistant counsel. She became assistant general counsel in 1994 and was promoted to general counsel in 2006. Callas was appointed to Modern Woodmen’s seven-member board of directors in April 2006.In her position Callas oversees litigation, legislative and regulatory matters affecting Modern Woodmen; serves as legal advisor to the board of directors and other officers; and manages Legal department operations.A graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago and Chicago-Kent College of Law, she holds the Fellow, Life Management Institute and Associate, Life and Health Claims designations.Callas is a member and past president of the Association of Fraternal Benefit Counsel. She is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Rock Island County Bar Association and the Association of Life Insurance Counsel.Callas has been active in the International Claim Association, having served on its Executive Committee for four years. She currently serves on the Moline Public Library Board of Trustees, as chairperson of Modern Woodmen's Law Committee and as a member of various internal committees.Callas and her husband, John, have two children. |
