Darcy A. Shoop concentrates her practice in family law and is one of the Washington D.C. area’s most experienced Collaborative Law attorneys. Although skilled in representing clients in a court-based process, her practice is dedicated to helping families navigate the difficult transitions that are inherent in divorce through the respectful, solution-based Collaborative process. In 2009, Ms. Shoop was named by Washingtonian Magazine as one of Washington’s Top 88 Divorce Attorneys. She also was listed by Maryland Super Lawyers as one of the top 50 attorneys and top 25 women attorneys in the state; and she was recognized in the Washington Post Magazine as one of the Best Lawyers in America in 2008 and 2009. Ms. Shoop has an AV Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell for being a pre-eminent lawyer in her field. Washingtonian Magazine previously selected her for the 2007 list of the Top Lawyers which recognizes only the top 1% of lawyers in the entire Washington D.C. area.
Ms. Shoop is the founding and Past-President of Maryland Collaborative Practice Council - the Maryland state-wide umbrella organization, and the founding and Past-President of Collaborative Divorce Association, Inc. She has been quoted in the Washington Post Magazine and speaks regularly on the topic of Collaborative Law addressing Collaborative Practice groups and other professional organizations throughout the Washington Metropolitan area.
