Dr. Marshak was appointed in 2006. He currently serves as VP and CSO at Elmer Perkins, Inc., a global leader in health sciences. From 2000-06, he was VP and Chief Technology Officer for Cambrex Corporation, a leader in providing human cells, cell culture media and reagents, endotoxin tests and bioassays, contract production and other services to the pharmaceutical industry and for biological research. Dr. Marshak is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the John Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. From 1994-2000, he was Senior VP and CSO for Osiris Therapeutics, a US biotechnology company that develops adult stem cell products. From 1986-95, he was Senior Staff Investigator at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in Long Island, NY, where he researched signal transduction, cellular growth control and differentiation. Concurrent with that appointment, he was an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he taught biochemistry. Dr. Marshak has a BS in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Harvard University, and a PhD in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from Rockefeller University. He conducted postdoctoral research at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and at the NIH. Dr. Marshak has received several awards for scientific and academic achievements, and is an inventor on five US patents. |
