Daniel Lin is an associate in Milbank's Tokyo office and a member of the firm's Global Corporate Group.
Daniel has previously worked in Australia as a tax lawyer and has extensive experience in securitizations (RMBS, CMBS, Wholesale Business and lease receivables), structured finance and M&A transactions. He has advised private equity clients in structuring their acquisitions as well as international investment banks on their cross-border structured finance products.
Some of Daniel's recent transactional experience includes:
advising the Japan Bank for International Co-operation ("JBIC") and other commercial lenders in relation to the expansion of a coal-fired power plant in Indonesia (using the same project company);
advising a Japanese lender on its US$1 billion acquisition financing for a Japanese trading company's bid to acquire a power portfolio in Mexico;
advising a Japanese lender in relation to its participation in the acquisition financing of certain power assets in Germany and the refinancing of port facilities in North America;
advising an European private equity fund on its financing structure for an acquisition in China;
advising a Japanese consumer finance company in relation to structuring its lending business in China; and
advising a Japanese utility in its investment in Mongolia's renewable energy sector.
Before joining Milbank, Daniel worked as a senior associate at Allens Arthur Robinson in Sydney and as a senior tax consultant in the Banking & Finance division of KPMG, Sydney. He received his Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Japanese and Economics) in 1998 and completed his Bachelor of Law (Honors) in 2000 at The University of Sydney, Australia. While working, Daniel completed a Master of Law, majoring in Finance and Tax, at the same university in 2004.
Daniel is a native Mandarin speaker and is also fluent in written and spoken Japanese. Daniel also speaks Hokkien (a Chinese dialect). He is admitted as a Solicitor of the New South Wales Supreme Court, Australia. |
