Daniel Klos recently joined the Summit Blue team as a Consultant. He has over 35 years in the computer field, designing, coding and developing many software packages. He has written optimization systems for determining the most cost effective way to schedule such tasks as moving freight or scheduling employee time shifts. Daniel has been responsible for the initial collection and organizing of data from several different utilities. His tasks include identifying troublesome or incorrect patterns in the data and finding different ways to clean or fix the large data files. He takes care to identify bad data which might distort later analysis. He has also developed innovative probabilistic methods for filling in missing data. His many years of computer experience has helped in developing new ways to merge utility customer data with business databases, i.e. Dun & Bradstreet, to more accurately determine SIC codes for business customers. Daniel has written several programs to automatically navigate through web pages, copying and storing large amounts of data for later analysis. Some of these bots may run for many hours (or days), often in the middle of the night, and sometimes generate hundred of thousands of data records. Daniel has expertise in many different computer languages. Currently, his favorite tools are Access, VBA, PHP and SAS. Daniel will be creating web based data collection and online query systems for different utilities this fall. Daniel Klos earned a BA in Mathematics from Beloit College. |
