Dan was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela and spent his early years living in various Latin American capitals, including Caracas, Venezuela and Asunci?n, Paraguay. He and his family moved stateside to New York City where he was raised before arriving in Miami as an adolescent. After graduating from high school in Miami, Dan attended college in New England and obtained a degree in liberal arts from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. His studies included time abroad in Madrid, Spain where he pursued his interests in Spanish and Latin American history. Following his undergraduate studies he returned home to South Florida to attend law school at the University of Miami. He has lived and practiced in the South Florida community since his graduation from law school. Dan speaks Spanish and maintains ties to Latin America where members of his family still reside. He currently lives in Hollywood, Florida with his wife and two young daughters. EXPERIENCE: Dan is an ERISA litigator whose practice covers the full range of employee benefits litigation. He specializes in representing the interests of employers, third party administrators, health and disability insurers in benefit claim disputes. His experience includes the defense of class actions alleging fiduciary breaches and failures to comply with plan procedures. He also has substantial experience counseling health plans on how to maximize their subrogation and reimbursement rights under ERISA. Dan's knowledge of the ERISA statute along with the unique standards of review that govern ERISA claim disputes allows him to provide cost-efficient counseling while fully developing all available legal defenses. He regularly appears in federal courts throughout the state in defense of ERISA matters. Dan's ERISA background complements his employment law experience which includes the defense of claims under Title VII and the Americans With Disabilities Act. He has represented individual business owners and health care facilities in defending accessibility claims arising under Title III of the ADA and other employment related litigation matters.
