Daniel P. Gold, Ph.D. founded Favrille with Robert Shopes, Ph.D. in January of 2000. Dr. Gold is a world-renowned researcher in the fields of cancer and autoimmune diseases. He has been involved in the design, implementation and data analysis of several clinical trials in cancer and multiple sclerosis. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Cancer Society, the Leukemia Society of America and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Dr. Gold acts in an advisory capacity to several leading research journals as well as national granting agencies including the National Institutes of Health. Since 1992, Dr. Gold has been Associate Professor at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center in San Diego, serving as Laboratory Director of the Human Immunogene Therapy Program and the Laboratory Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Research Program. Dr. Gold was also a Scholar of the Leukemia Society of America, an award given to only a handful of individuals each year and now serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Leukemia and Lymphoma Society chapter. He received his BA degree in Biology from UCLA and a Ph.D. in Immunology from Tufts Medical School, with post-doctoral training at MIT and the Dana Farber Cancer Center. |
