J. Daniel Davis is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Silicon Valley office. He is a member of the Firm’s Alcohol Beverage and Products Group, where he focuses on regulatory issues facing the alcohol beverage industry.
Dan brings with him both the legal and business experience as inside counsel to a major alcohol beverage supplier on a variety of issues including the consolidation of nationwide distributor networks and the implementation of national and local sales and marketing programs tailored to the legal and business needs of specific states. His hands-on, inside view of the alcohol beverage industry helps Dan provide counsel to a broad segment of the industry on a broad range of legal and business issues. His experience includes tied-house laws and regulations, licensing matters, distribution agreements and disputes, and advertising and promotional issues.
Dan has served as outside counsel to various alcohol beverage companies, from small start-ups to national suppliers of iconic brands, for the past 15 years. He has represented clients in numerous hearings before the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, including appeals to the California Alcoholic Beverage Control Appeals Board and to California Courts of Appeal.
Dan earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, and his B.A. from The College of William and Mary. He is admitted to practice in California and Connecticut.
