As senior vice president of consumer products sales division and vice president of Hormel Foods, Daniel A. Hartzog oversees all sales activities for the five national dedicated customer teams: Wal-Mart, Kroger, Safeway, SuperValu and the alternate channels team.
Hartzog began his career with Hormel Foods in 1975 as a sales trainee in the Atlanta, Ga., distribution plant. He went on to hold a number of key sales positions before being promoted to district sales manager in 1982. In 1983, Hartzog was named district manager, working in Omaha, Neb. and then Atlanta, before his promotion to regional sales manager for the Western region in 1988. He then moved to the corporate offices in Austin, Minn. as director of trade management for the meat products group. In 2000, Hartzog was promoted to vice president of meat products sales where he was responsible for the sales activities of the meat products organization and its 200 employees. In 2004, he assumed his current responsibilities.
