As a new user of the Sten-Tel transcription services it has taken only a short time to see the value of this service. During the initial presentation by Christian Barthelette, we were told how it would help us cut down on the time officers spend doing reports. In practice I have found this to be a great benefit. I have used the digital recording and transcription service for a report that would normally take me up to an hour or more of typing. It has taken as little as seven minutes recording time to produce a full report. At one point I even did the math and figured I would have to type a 100 words a minute to accomplish what I have been able to do with the digital recorder. I don’t type that fast!

Christian had stated it is only your own imagination that limits its use. After talking with other users of the system I too have found that you can record from an answering machine or the video in my cruiser video/audio system and just send it out to be transcribed. You just can’t beat that, and I’m sure there are many uses I haven’t come up with yet.
