Dan joined LEYE after pursuing a career in the performing arts. He received a Bachelor’s of Music degree from the American Conservatory of Music here in Chicago, appeared on Broadway in New York as a member of the original Broadway cast of Shenandoah, and worked in many summer stock productions with former MGM stars during the early 1970’s. He entered the restaurant industry, like most performers, as a job between shows; but soon recognized that with its fantastic opportunities for growth that this was the career for him.
Dan is currently Vice President of Operations for Lettuce’s eight Big Bowls located in Chicago, Minneapolis, and Virginia. He began his career with Lettuce as an entry level manager in 1986 and served as General Manager of Shaw’s Blue Crab in Deerfield and the Mity Nice Grill in Water Tower Place before coming on board with Big Bowl at its inception to help create one of our most successful concepts.
Dan considers the transition from Broadway to Lettuce a natural one, since both are wonderful entertainment mediums that can enrich peoples’ lives. He firmly believes, We are in the entertainment business, trying to entertain our guests with great food, served in colorful surrounding filled with energy and fun.
Dan’s outside interests are obviously music and theater, but literature and history consume a large portion of his spare time.
He and his wife Joyce have two daughters and live in the northern suburbs. On his days off you will find him there. |
