Dan has over 20 years of experience launching and building materials-based businesses in global, high-growth markets, particularly in the display industry. This experience spans mature to embryonic enterprises, including three Fortune-500 companies DuPont Electronics, Corning Displays, Rohm and Haas - and three MIT start-ups E Ink Corp, Boston MicroSystems and now QD Vision. He has repeatedly helped deliver new products with industry-leading market share and margins. With a proven ability to spearhead partnerships across the value chain, Dan has consistently achieved market success by designing-in materials innovations with industry leaders that enable new applications: electronic materials at DuPont Japan for Toyota’s first ‘under-the-hood’ electronics; precision flat glass at Corning for early generation LCDs at Sharp for color notebooks; E Ink’s first electronic paper components for hand-held devices, where he secured a major product adoption by Sony for its first electronic books, while establishing supply chain partnerships with Philips Electronics and Toppan Printing, raising $40 million in strategic investments. Dan’s leadership experience spans most operating functions with particular emphasis in business development, marketing, technology and general management. He has worked extensively in Asia, including four-years based in Tokyo for DuPont Electronics. Dan has a BS in Engineering from Cornell University and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT. |
