Dale Kutnick is senior vice president and director of research at Gartner where he focuses on quality control of research deliverables, developing new forms of content and client interaction and improving client support. He also works directly with senior IT and business leaders in many Gartner client organizations.
Kutnick joined Gartner in 2005 following the company’s acquisition of META Group where he was co-founder, chairman of the board and research director. Kutnick also served as president, CEO and research director of META Group from its inception in 1989 through 2002. In addition to his operational duties as META Group CEO, Kutnick led the creation, development, packaging and management of content quality for META Group's intellectual capital. He was also a frequent keynote speaker at industry conferences, a contributor to many books and other publications and a consultant to IT industry CEOs and numerous CIOs. During Kutnick's tenure as CEO, the company had a successful initial public offering in December 1995, quadrupled revenue and was profitable for 19 consecutive quarters.
Before co-founding META Group, Kutnick was executive vice president of research, at Gartner and an executive vice president at Gartner Securities. Prior to joining Gartner, Kutnick was executive director and research director at Yankee Group, a technology research and consulting firm, and a principal at Battery Ventures, a venture capital firm. A graduate of Yale University, Kutnick is a member of the board of directors of First Albany Corp.
