Dale Compton is currently a chaired professor of industrial engineering at Purdue University. He was previously the Vice President of Research for Ford Motor Company. Dr. Compton is a Fellow of the National Academy of Engineering and holds a PhD. from MIT in Physics. He was a Research Physicist for the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1961 and a member of the faculty of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Illinois from 1961 until 1970. He was Director of the Coordinated Science Laboratory at UICU from 1965-1970. In 1970, he became the Director of Chemical and Physical Sciences Laboratory for the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. From 1973 until 1986 Dr. Compton was the Vice President of Research for Ford Motor Company. Dr. Compton was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1981 and became the Senior Fellow of the NAE in 1986. Dr. Compton is currently Chairman of the National Research Council Commission on Engineering and Technical Systems and serves on numerous national and university advisory committees. |
