Dr. Dale H. Conaway is currently the Chief Veterinary Medical Officer for the Office of Research Oversight (ORO), a division of the United States Department of Health and Human Services in Atlanta, Georgia. From 1998 to 2001, he was the Manager of the Equine Drug Testing and Animal Disease Surveillance Labs for the Michigan Department of Agriculture. From 1994-1998 he served as the Regulatory Affairs Manager for the Michigan Department of Public Health Vaccine Production Division. From 1988-1994 Dr. Conaway served as the Director of the Animal Facility at the Michigan Cancer Foundation (now a part of the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute) as well as a Research Assistant Member. Research interests at the Cancer Foundation included, metastatic inhibition of malignant tumors, gene transfection in heterogeneous mammary tumor populations and immunocytochemical evaluation of lymphocyte populations within malignant tumors. Dr. Conaway studied surgical pathology at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Michigan State University (1982-1984), and was a Research Associate at the Department of Immunology, School of Medicine, Wayne State University in Detroit, MI (1985-1988). Dr. Conaway also did an internship in Veterinary Epidemiology, at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO (1981-1982). Dr. Conaway received his Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University in 1979, and a Masters of Science degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine, at Michigan State University in 1984.
