An original founder of Fort Knox National Company, Cyrus A. Ansary is Chairman of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee of Fort Knox National Company. His full-time occupation is as President of a merchant banking firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., which he founded in 1974. Cy is also Chairman of the Board of Washington Mutual Investors Fund, with $75 billion in assets, and Chairman of the Board of JPMorgan Value Opportunities Fund, with $650 million in assets. He also chairs two bond funds. From 1981 to 1989, Cy was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The American University in Washington, D.C. and is now Chairman Emeritus of that institution. Currently he is a member of the Woodrow Wilson Council for Scholars and the Life Guard Society of Mount Vernon. Earlier, Cy was in law practice as Senior Partner in the firm of Ansary, Kirkpatrick & Rosse, and served as a Director and Chairman of the Finance Committee of First American Bank of Maryland, and a member of the Supervising Boards of Krupp GmbH and of Deutsche Babcock and Wilcox, both in Germany. Cy is a former Marine, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the American University in Washington, D.C., a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in New York City, and a Certificate in French Civilization from the University of Paris. Professionally, he is a member of the National Association of Business Economics, National Economists Club, Washington Society of Investment Analysts, Economic Club of Washington, Washington Association of Money Managers, and National Press Club.
