Curtis Sasaki is vice president responsible for Sun's webproperties. His team is responsible for the strategy, businessdevelopment, content, and execution for Sun's global web presence. Prior to this role, Sasaki was vice president of engineering forDesktop Software Solutions at Sun Microsystems. He was responsiblefor managing the development of Sun's core desktop software,including GNOME, Mozilla and StarOffice/OpenOffice as well ascommunications client solutions for both the integrated Linuxdesktop, a client solution that eliminates the expense of traditionaldesktops while significantly bolstering security and authenticationas well as for Sun Ray desktop.
>Prior to his current position, Sasaki was in the Corporate Strategyand Planning looking at investments and acquisitions in web servicesand mobile markets. Before this he was Director of TechnologyAdvocacy and drove worldwide evangelism for Sun's emergingtechnologies in the enterprise, wireless, digital television,residential gateways and automotive industries. Leveraging his vastexperience in consumer electronics, wireless and software, Sasaki wasinstrumental in the adoption of the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition(J2ME) by major handset and embedded device manufacturers around theworld.
>Previously, Sasaki was director of marketing for Sun's consumertechnologies where he led the definition and business strategy behindJ2ME, Jini Network Technology, PersonalJava and Embedded Javaplatforms, as well as the channel partner strategy.
Before joining Sun in 1996, Sasaki served in various seniormanagement positions at General Magic, NeXT Computer and Apple Computer.
