CURT MELTZER, Esq., Senior Partner, managed a New York City law firm for almost twenty-five years before forming Meltzer LoPresti, LLP. He is currently concentrating in corporate, commercial, international, real estate, and business law. Mr. Meltzer has been corporate counsel for many businesses of varied sizes, and has handled numerous corporate matters, including drafting and negotiating a wide range of shareholder agreements, contracts, leases, employment agreements, license and distribution agreements, financing and security agreements and corporate governance documents. Additionally, as an advisor to many companies in widely varied business planning services, Mr. Meltzer has also helped develop business plans and practices, which have increased his clients’ profitability and reduced litigation and liability concerns. Mr. Meltzer has also represented such companies in the purchase and sale of businesses, the restructuring of companies and their expansion into new markets. Among the range of companies represented by Mr. Meltzer include the fields of finance (several Asian banks, such as Bank of China and Hang Seng Bank), import-export concerns (companies doing business in China, Turkey, Russia, Korea, Vietnam, portions of South America, West Africa and much of Europe), research (CPM Group, the world’s foremost experts in the gold and precious metals markets), real estate (both commercial and residential, as to leases, sales and purchases), commercial transportation (many bus and van companies), retail companies (including companies in the textile, food, express mail and other import/export fields), and he has been counsel to large fraternal Associations. In the field of litigation, Mr. Meltzer has won decisions establishing new law in New York State in several commercial tort areas and in the area of civil rights. Mr. Meltzer has also figured prominently in the development of significant decisional law in several administrative agencies in New York State, and has served on two Technical Advisory Committees of the Department of City Planning. Mr. Meltzer has also served as special counsel to the County of Westchester, in the State of New York, representing the County in constitutional litigation, and has represented the Mt. Sinai Free School District in New York State, also in constitutional litigation.Mr. Meltzer has, for the past 25 years, represented many companies doing business internationally, most specifically in the People’s Republic of China, and has for most of his career, been directly involved in representing Chinese-American communities in New York State. Mr. Meltzer, along with his Shanghai Of Counsel, is currently conducting an active practice representing clients interested in investing in China, and is developing systematic procedures, along with local counsel in Shanghai, for introducing and assisting Chinese businesses and investors who are interested in investment and expansion in the U.S., and in the creation of various off-shore and Swiss trusts. Mr. Meltzer has recently published an article entitled Expanding into U.S. Markets, and he is also preparing to conduct a series of lectures, starting November 2004 in Shanghai, China, as to how Chinese companies can conduct business and expand business, in the U.S. Mr. Meltzer is admitted to the bar of the State of New York, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the First and Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Recently, Mr. Meltzer was appointed to the China Law Committee of the International Law Section of the American Bar Association (the largest such lawyers association in the United States). He has also recently become a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.Mr. Meltzer earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton, a Master of Science degree from Rutgers University, and is a 1979 graduate of Brooklyn Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree, and where he received several honors. |
