Craig Welch is a Managing Director of Underwriting and Risk Management at Assured Guaranty Corp. Mr. Welch joined Assured Guaranty in 2005. His primary responsibilities cover the credit policy and approval functions for Assured Guaranty’s structured finance businesses. Prior to joining Assured Guaranty, he was with Ambac Assurance Corporation for five years, most recently as First Vice President, Structured Insurance.
Mr. Welch has been involved in the financial services industry for over 20 years. He held corporate and leveraged loan officer positions with the Irving Trust Company and the Toronto-Dominion Bank. Later, Mr. Welch held senior positions in the Credit Department and was the Head of New York Corporate Banking at Credit Agricole Indosuez.
Mr. Welch received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago in 1982 and a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1984.
