Craig Floro, Executive Vice President
Craig Floro is the Executive Vice President of Akimeka, LLC. Over the past 2 years he has developed significant programs impacting the State of Hawaii and the Department of Defense, improving both capability and public safety infrastructure. Mr. Floro was the key architect for the Joint Information Technology Center on Maui, and the telecommunications interoperability program for federal, state and local public safety agencies on the Island of Hawaii in support of Homeland Defense Initiatives. Previously, Craig was the Program Director and Chief Operating Officer for the Akamai Telemedicine Program in Honolulu, Hawaii. Responsible for directing over $100 million in telehealth and clinical research & development projects; this program focused on regional picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) and teleradiology, telehealth systems design, software prototyping, development of clinical applications of emerging technology, and medical evaluation programs supporting military, federal and international medical facilities in the Pacific Rim. He successfully designed, deployed, and implemented nationally recognized telehealth, teleradiology and imaging programs throughout Korea, Alaska, Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. Several of the projects won national recognition including the Internet Tumor Board which received the Technology Innovation Award from CIO Magazine in 2000, and the Theater Telemedicine Prototype Project which received honors for Federal Technology Innovation in 1999. He has previous experience as the Director of Strategic Planning for the largest Health System in the Pacific Region, Tripler Army Medical Center. He completed a distinguished career as a US Army officer, retiring in 1997. He earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Kentucky, a Master of Arts in Business Management from Webster University and a Masters in Health Administration from Baylor University. Mr. Floro is a Certified Healthcare Executive and a Diplomate in the American College of Healthcare Executives. |
