Courtney Peters-Manning represents public and private sector clients in a wide range of environmental and energy-related matters, including permitting, litigation, and transactional issues. Her work in this area in part reflects her experience before joining Foley Hoag. Prior to law school, she worked as a senior analyst at an environmental consulting firm based in Watertown, Massachusetts. In that capacity she helped advise on Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Act issues for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. During law school Courtney was an intern at the Environmental Law & Policy Center, Chicago, Illinois, and served as President of the University of Chicago Public Interest Law Society.
Courtney has an active pro bono practice. She in particular represents clients in immigration and asylum proceedings, including the defense of a detainee from the March 2007 factory raid in New Bedford, Massachusetts. During law school Courtney provided pro bono representation to clients confined in state hospitals and wrote an amicus brief to the United States Supreme Court for the Mental Health Advocacy Clinic.
