B. Cort Delany serves as the principal-in-charge of the firm’s Greenwich office. Cort joined Cummings & Lockwood in 1993 after practicing in the Connecticut office of the New York based law firm of Kelley Drye & Warren, where he served as a partner in the Personal Services Department. Cort began his career in New York City in 1981 where he worked on a broad array of tax, corporate and litigation matters. Since 1986, Cort has focused in the areas of estate planning and trust and estate administration, with particular emphasis on the tax aspects of planning for large family groups and senior executives, closely held businesses, the administration of trusts created for tax reduction or property control and on contested probate matters. A native of Greenwich, Connecticut, Cort graduated from Dartmouth College and received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, where he was a member of the International Law Journal. He was awarded a Masters of Law (in taxation) from New York University School of Law. Cort is admitted to practice in the states of Connecticut and New York, as well as before the Federal Courts in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the Greenwich, New York and American Bar Associations, as well as the Connecticut Bar Association, where he is a member of the Estates and Probates Section. |
