Dr. Dorfschmid is currently responsible for strategic planning, implementation, and business development of products and services, as well as technology and software application focused business lines of the firm. In addition to focusing on strategic business growth initiatives, Dr. Dorfschmid provides senior level advisory services in corporate compliance, HIPAA compliance, auditing and monitoring of risk areas such as information security, billing, internal controls, claims reviews using RAT-STATS and HHS sampling protocols, compliance due diligence for M&A purposes, and customizing tools to health care organizations that range from medical group practice networks to large integrated health care systems and national health care organizations. She contributes in speaking engagements and conferences and publishes on compliance matters (for example, Completing a Risk Assessment, HIPAA Patient Privacy Compliance Guide, AIS 2002, 2003 Compliance Strategies for Medical Groups and Physician Practices, Group Practice Journal, January 2003, and co-authored A Guide to Auditing and Monitoring HIPAA Privacy Compliance, AIS 2003). Dr. Dorfschmid came to Strategic Management in 1992 to oversee and direct all knowledge and system functions, including surveys and quantitative compliance analyses, compliance software development, and interactive CBT based training, and assist with analytical, statistical, and auditing methods using her economics background and training. Previously, as Vice President of Surveys and Evaluations, Dr. Dorfschmid oversaw the firm's technology efforts and offerings and directed all systems, survey analysis, software application development, interactive CBT and web based training, and knowledge and data analysis functions. She developed the Health Care Compliance IndexT (HCCIT) and was instrumental in the development of the Compliance Benchmark SurveyT, the basis for the HCCIT used to benchmark compliance. She has been the primary developer of the analysis and scoring for the Compliance MonitorT survey for measuring Compliance Program effectiveness of mature programs and serving as audit tool. After taking on the CIO function for the firm, she designed and managed FACIS , a web-based data search service that reports on disciplinary actions taken against health care professionals and entities, through the entire life cycle. She led the design, development, and rollout of a leading regulatory risk analysis software program for Corporate Compliance Officers in health care, the firm's e-learning tools such as the firm's own CPEssentialsT educational and training software products, and customized web-based e-learning tools, including the web based Compliance Interactive Tutorial SystemT (CITS) for the American Medical Association, and CBT based training for an international pharmaceutical. Dr. Dorfschmid is the designer of the firm's own HIPAA BASICST, a web-based HIPAA gap analysis, project planning, and monitoring tool (www.hipaabasics.net) that has been widely used commercially and in the government sector. Dr. Dorfschmid previously taught economics and statistics at New York University (NYU) and was a research and teaching staff member at the Institute for Economic Research at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität in Freiburg, Germany (Institut für Allgemeine Wirtschaftsforschung - Abteilung Politik) and was a statistical consultant to a major New York investment bank, Morgan Grenfell Finance. She holds a Ph.D. as well as a M.A. in Economics from NYU and a Master's degree (MA cum laude) in Economic Sciences (Wirtschaftswissenschaft), with specialization in Law from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität at Freiburg, Germany. She also holds a Masters of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) from George Washington University (GWU) and a CIO Certificate in Federal Executive Competencies from the Chief Information Officers University and GWU. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
