A pioneer and leader in supply chain innovation and procurement practices, Corey is credited with helping to develop the modern field of Supply Chain Management. He currently serves on the faculty of the International Institute for Management Development, IMD, one of the world's leading business schools. Amongst his previous roles, Corey served as VP of Supply Chain at Hewlett-Packard where he led the company's strategic supply chain services and procurement organizations.
Also, Corey was a consulting associate professor at Stanford University's school of engineering in the department of management and engineering.
As the head of global supply chain strategy for Hewlett-Packard, Corey directed a team of more than 1,400 procurement, strategic planning, engineering and process management professionals dedicated to improving supply chain performance for the global leader. Billington's expertise in increasing the efficiency of HP's organizations by improving procurement and business processes and strengthening decision-making have played a critical role in establishing the company as the standard bearer in the arena of supply chain excellence. For more than 20 years, Billington has been at the forefront of supply chain improvement and the widespread movement toward increasing profit margins through effective supply chain management. Long before the term 'supply chain' become common vocabulary, Corey has been addressing the uncertainties that degrade supply chain performance as an early proponent of powerful supply chain management tools and strategies that enable manufacturers to successfully model, analyze and revamp critical business processes.
Corey's breakthrough research and supply chain methods have been profiled through articles and publications in such journals as the Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, Business Week, Forbes, Supply Chain Management Review, Operations Research and Sloan Management Review. He has extensive academic experience as a consulting professor in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management at Stanford University. In 2002, Billington was recognized for his contributions to the field as a "Pro to Know" by iSource Business; in 2001 he was named a "Top Supply Chain Executive" by Supply Chain Technology News. Corey earned a Bachelor's degree in engineering management from Claremont McKenna College, and B.S, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University. |
