A 1975 graduate of Kamehameha Schools, Wong received her undergraduate degree in economics from Pomona College in 1979. She then attended the University of Santa Clara earning both a law degree and a master of business administration in 1982.
Wong then joined the Honolulu law firm of Kobayashi, Watanabe, Sugita & Kawashima, concentrating in a variety of areas including estate and business planning and real property transactions.
Wong joined the Kamehameha Schools’ legal staff in 1986 as Associate Counsel. In 1991, she was named Division Senior Counsel at Kamehameha, specializing in real property, personnel and employment law, business planning, real estate and investment transactions. She was named the Estate’s first Chief Legal Officer in 2000, overseeing all legal affairs of the Estate. She is licensed to practice before all courts in Hawaii, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
In May 2003, Wong served as the Acting CEO of Kamehameha Schools for a period of 8 months.
Wong is active in many professional organizations and volunteers her time with several nonprofits. Wong has served as president of the Corporate Counsel Section, director of the Real Property and Financial Services Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association, Native Hawaiian Bar Association, Hawaii Women’s Legal Foundation, Junior League of Honolulu, and the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement. She was also a member of the School Readiness Task Force, University of Hawaii College of Education Advisory Committee, Good Beginnings Alliance, Hawaii Business Roundtable, Hawaii Services Institute Agency, Historic Hawaii Foundation and Maui Economic Development Board. |
