Cliff Campbell has over 29 years of litigation experience, including eleven years with the Alameda County District Attorney's office. His practice focuses on public entity defense in tort, contract, civil rights and Americans with Disability Act cases. Cliff has tried over 75 jury trials. He has successfully defended cities against claims for attorneys fees, and has represented cities in nuisance abatement and code enforcement actions. Cliff frequently advises pooled risk insurance authorities concerning issues of insurance coverage. He is one of the few attorneys in the state with significant trial experience defending public entities in Brown Act litigation.In 2000, Cliff wrote the amicus brief on behalf of 136 California cities and the California State Association of Counties in Haggis v. City of Los Angeles (2000) 22 Cal. 4th 490 [93 Cal.Rptr.2d 327]. Another example of his work is documented in Sutherland v. City of Fort Bragg (2001) 86 Cal.App.4th 13 [102 Cal.Rptr.2d 736]. Cliff was the trial counsel in that case.Cliff received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1971 and his J.D. degree from Golden Gate University in 1974. He has taught legal courses through the California community college system. Cliff is a member of the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and the Defense Research Institute. |
