Goodstein has been at Milberg Weiss since 1998, and has been a partner of the firm since 2002. He has prosecuted cases in a wide variety of areas, including securities, antitrust, consumer, and employment litigation. Among his securities cases, he has been lead counsel in the CMS Energy (E.D. Mich.) ($200 million settlement pending final approval), Allegheny Energy (D. Md.) ($15 million settlement), El Paso Electric (W.D. Tex.) ($10 million settlement), and HA-LO (N.D. Ill.) ($10 million settlement) cases. Among his consumer cases, he was lead counsel in the Multistate Workers' Compensation Voluntary Premium Litigation, which resulted in a $37 million settlement. In the antitrust area, he prosecuted a case on behalf of a private client against Sumitomo Corporation relating to that company's manipulation of the copper futures market. That case led to an important Seventh Circuit antitrust decision, Loeb Industries, Inc. v. Sumitomo Corp., 306 F.3d 469, 497 (7th Cir. 2002), which reversed summary judgment on standing grounds. Currently, he is lead counsel in the Mutual Funds Market Timing MDL litigation (Bank One/One Group, Columbia, and Strong subtracks), and in cases proceeding against Rent-A-Center and Diebold. |
