As Chairman of the Board and President, Clay leads the long-term, strategic vision for the company and is actively involved in planning for all development projects. During his tenure at Grubb Properties, Clay has taken the lead in developing or acquiring approximately $500 million of real estate projects. In addition to his responsibilities at Grubb Properties, he currently serves as Chairman of the Board for two non-profit organizations: the Grubb Real Estate Preservation Foundation, which focuses on preservation of a 140-year-old African-American church/cemetery site in the South Park area of Charlotte; and Seigle Avenue Partners, which provides after-school and Freedom School summer programs for inner city children. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Aym Technologies, North Carolina’s Environmental Defense Board, Queens University’s Presidential Advisory Board, Kenan-Flagler School of Business’ Real Estate Advisory Board, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Real Estate Advisory Board and Charlotte’s Mint Museum Board of Trustees. He is an active member of the Young Presidents Organization and the Urban Land Institute. Earlier in his career, Clay served as President of the Charlotte Apartment Association’s Board of Directors. Clay received his law degree from The University of North Carolina School of Law and his Bachelor of Science in Management from the A. B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University, with a concentration in finance and a second major in economics. |
